I have been playing golf for a few years now and have been a member at two golf clubs. Stamford Golf Club in Stalybridge was my first one and Mellor & Townscliffe my second. Mellor certainly has a wide variety being a 23 hole course. There are two courses at Mellor, the Old Course and the Valley Course. The extra holes which were built a few years back mean that on the Valley Course you do not have to climb to the top of the hill in order to play holes 9, 10 &11. This makes for a slightly less tiresome round. My current handicap at the moment is 19. Hopefully it will come down somewhat this year.
Mellor & Townscliffe Golf Club was founded in 1894. It lies on the western hills of the Pennines where Derbyshire and Cheshire meet. It's an interesting mixture of moorland and parkland golf with wonderful views across the Cheshire plain and a magnificent setting serves as a backdrop for a course to test the skills of golfers at all levels.
